This work is a selection of Cheyenne’s best feature photographs from her internship at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Cheyenne began a three month internship with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in September of 2020. In December, she was given the opportunity to extend her internship for another three months until March 2021. She photographs a variety of daily assignments for the newspaper along with breaking news, professional sports, and short stories.

Milestones follows Peter, Brendan and Sammy Burke on their journey toward becoming more independent young men while facing the challenges of being on the autism spectrum. At ages 21 (Peter), 19 (Brendan), and 15 (Sammy), the brothers all have different goals to reach in order to achieve independence. With the help of their parents and each other, the brothers have made great strides from late 2017 through the end of 2020.

This website contains a collection of photo and video stories that focus on social justice and racial equity in Rochester, NY. Following the public release of information surrounding the death of Daniel Prude, photojournalism students from Rochester Institute of Technology began to document the community’s response and demand for justice for the Prude family.

On the River is a collection of images taken during the salmon fishing season in upstate New York. Every year, hundreds of anglers come from across the nation to partake in varieties of competitive sportfishing throughout the short six-week period. Tourism in the area acts as an economic energizer bringing in an average yearly revenue of 5 million dollars to the village of Pulaski and the surrounding communities.

This work looks at an edited selection of mine and other RIT students’ photographs depicting how they perceived COVID-19 or reacted to it. I collaborated with students and members of my capstone committee to edit the images into a book about the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 has impacted my life greatly and led me to create this work after bringing my original story idea to a halt. I also experienced one of my own family members having COVID-19 which led me to want to show how others have been affected by the pandemic.

This short documentary follows two separate families, the DeSantis' and The Carneys, in the Gates Chili Central school district as they navigate learning during a global pandemic. Learning Together shows the similar and different experiences from teacher and parent to the students themselves and how they are overcoming them.

This work is an edit of images from the COVID19 pandemic narrated by excerpts of letters from the 1918 Influenza pandemic over 100 years ago. These series of letters written by a student, a volunteer nurse, a family man, and a rural farmer’s wife describe their lives in the years 1918-1920. These letters express how the influenza pandemic impacted them individually. Though they are written from each individual perspective, combined they tell a story of how a pandemic can take a turn for the worse in only a few months’ time. The words and images together show that although 100 years apart we are still fundamentally the same; searching for connection, fearful of change, and deal with harsh times similarly.

Erin Bullock is the owner and operator of Wild Hill Farm in Ionia, N.Y. She has been a farmer in Upstate New York for over a decade and has earned a reputation as a strong leader and a good farmer. Because of her lack of female role models when she first got into farming, Bullock acts as a mentor and educator to many young women looking to enter the world of agriculture.

Home to one of the oldest running public markets in the US, the Marketview Heights neighborhood ranks in the top five most food insecure zip codes in the state of New York. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the food insecurity rate in Rochester is expected to rise by 45%. This means more families struggling to keep healthy, affordable food on the table.
