My Voice, My Truth
(Sensitive Material)

According to a report in Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, 1 out of every 6 American women has been a victim of rape. 1 out of 10 rape victims is male. The purpose of my photo essay is to look beyond these statistics and have their voices be heard. Through this collection of portraits, we encounter firsthand the anguish of the exploited and the power and strength of their responses. Each portrait has their own story and is made up of cyanotypes on fabric symbolizing the clothing that was taken from them during the assault. By sharing these stories, I hope to bring a space for healing and awareness.
