“The only thing wrong with being transgendered is the way that the rest of society treats you,” said Rachel on the day that we first met. Having been a very successful architect prior to her transition, Rachel struggles with the fact that her previous clients do not call her anymore. Her daily attempt to look “normal” in the eyes of society took a toll on her psychologically, which often times resulted in alcohol and drug use as a form of self-medication.
