Fishermen hoist a silky shark caught the previous night with the use of homemade fishing traps in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico, on Aug. 22. Silky shark populations have been in a spiraling decline since mid 20th century because of pressure from targeted fishing and incidental catch by tuna fishing boats.
